He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be reckoned a curse to him.
—Proverbs 27:14
TODAY’S DARE
Ask your spouse to tell you three things that cause him or her to be uncomfortable or irritated with you. You must do so without attacking them or justifying your behavior. This is from their perspective only.
Today was fun . . . First Jennifer said, honey you don’t irritate me, this is going to be hard, and then like Magic she was able to come up with 3 things.
1. It makes her uncomfortable when I read and write emails from my BB while driving. Okay, I get that.
2. She would appreciate it if I would refrain from flatulence, at least excessively loud ones, in her presence. Check.
3. It makes her uncomfortable when she doesn’t know or doesn’t see me daily spending time with God. Ummph this one hit hard.
There are often days when my time with God is little more then the prayer time I have with my kids in the morning and evening. This is one I can certainly work on for her sake and mine.
Good exercise today, but now she has asked me to tell her 3 things that make me irritated or uncomfortable – Of course I said, honey you don’t irritate me, this is going to be hard – it didn’t work on her either. So now I am trying to think of some good answers. At least one that don’t put me in the guest room tonight
Bethany’s number one was the same as Jen’s….she worded it a little different..I think the exact wording was “Playing with your phone while you’re driving” I am still waiting on the other two…she said she couldn’t think of anything else on the spot….she’s probably just being nice….I don’t know why though…she knows I won’t put her in the “guest room” no matter what she says
(even if we had a guest room) BoB
Thanks for sharing – it gave me a smile and a chuckle. As we both left the house very early in the morning and arrived back home very late I decided to save this one for the weekend – and maybe I am procrastinating on finding out what these 3 things may be – none the less – I guess I will press on with it tomorrow – feel safe – we don’t have a guest room either. Whew!!!:)
Blessings!!!
