Love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire.
—Song of Solomon 8:6 NIV
TODAY’S DARE
Determine to become your spouse’s biggest fan and to reject any thoughts of jealousy. To help you set your heart on your spouse and focus on their achievements, take yesterday’s list of negative attributes and discreetly burn it. Then share with your spouse how glad you are about a success he or she recently enjoyed.
I struggled with jealousy really bad when I was dating my wife in high school…its hard for me to even remember how bad of a boyfriend I was to her…seems like a different person now. Thankfully, I can truly say that I am my wife’s biggest fan now and I am constantly amazed at the new successes she achieves each year. Most recently she became a certified fitness instructor and she started teaching Spin classes and Full Body conditioning classes. She is wearing the same size jeans she wore in high school…that’s impressive for anyone but especially amazing for someone who has delivered 4 babies. My wife is an amazing homemaker, chef, friend, mother, teacher, musician, and athlete. I know I frequently take for granted the good food, clean house, and the way she makes our house a home but anytime I pause the daily grind and let my thoughts drift to my wife I am truly overcome with thankfulness that my wife so closes resembles the woman described in Proverbs 31.
